Is Your WHY Strong Enough?

Do you really want to change something about yourself in 2025?

Are you sick of feeling overweight?

Are you wanting to do something new this year? Get a new job, do a course?

I could go on, you can relate this to ANYTHING in your life....

But do you always seem to put blockers up, stopping you?

I can't lose weight because..

- I have no motivation

- I always start well, but then I give in

- I don't have the time

I can't do that course because...

- I don't have the time

- I can't afford it

- I'm not clever enough

- I'm too old

- what will people think

You get my gist.....

There is absolutely NOTHING in this world stopping you from being the absolute BEST version of you, whatever you want that to be. NOTHING other than YOU

Yes, that's right. It's YOU (once again) getting in your own way.

WHY do you do this?

There are a few reasons why you sabotage your progress before you even start and here a few of the biggies..

Fear, Motivation and your WHY isn't strong enough.

FEAR

OK, this is one that most people don't admit to, but it's definitely there in the back of their mind. Fear that they will be judged, fear that they won't succeed, fear that it may change them too much (yes that's a fear for some people) fear of the unknown, fear they'll mess up.

Your brain can see and feel that you are scared, so it tries to protect you by putting all those negative thoughts and negative self talk into your head (you're too old, you can't do that, you'll fail...) to stop you doing what you really want to do. It's just protecting you from failure. But it's also stopping you from becoming the best version of yourself.

LACK OF MOTIVATION

For those wanting to get back to exercise/healthy eating, then this one may resonate with you. You really want to lose weight and feel better, but you hate exercise, you find it really hard to stick to a healthy eating plan and you are generally not that much of a motivated person.

YOUR WHY ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH

This brings everything I've talked about until now, your fear and lack of motivation all together. So what do I Mean?

EXAMPLE Number 1

You are a 54 woman, you want to lose weight and have more energy. You have little motivation and you've tried loads of healthy eating plans/exercise classes and have lasted a few weeks and then fallen off the wagon. You have put every single blocker listed above (and more) in front of you and you give up before you've even got started. Why?

I believe your motivation is lacking because your WHY isn't big enough. You need to dig deep and find out what is the reason WHY you want to change

QUESTION - Why do you want to lose weight?

ANSWER 1

I want to fit into smaller jeans and look good

ANSWER 2

I want to fit into smaller jeans and look better. And actually, my doctor has said that my cholesterol and blood pressure are both slightly above where they need to be. He said I have to lose weight, stop drinking and exercise more. I'm scared. I want to be around as long as I can for my kids and i want to have more energy so that I can stay mentally and physically young for them. I'm sick of feeling tired all the time.

OK, so who has the biggest why? Obviously number 2. Number 1 is the same person, but they decided to give the easy answer, to lie to themselves, because they are scared of having to face reality.

Once you delve deep and really look at your why, then it will really help to MOTIVATE you and stop you putting those blockers up.

EXAMPLE NUMBER 2

Let's try it with the person who wants to change their career or do a course. They're scared, they feel old and they are nervous that they will make a fool of themselves. But they hide away from that.

QUESTION - Why do you want to do that course on becoming a Nuturopath?

ANSWER 1

Naturopathy interests me and I want to help people.

ANSWER 2

I've been interested in alternative health for years and it's a real passion of mine. I've wanted to do this course for so long, but I'm scared; it's so expensive and I don't want to look like a fool in front of other people. What if I fail?!

I know if I do this course it will be my dream career and I know if I stay in my current job I will be unhappy until I retire. I hate going to work every day at the moment, I actually feel quite depressed thinking about it and I want to be excited about going to work. I know doing this course is the answer. This job is my purpose.

WHY is Your WHY So Important?

If your WHY is strong enough, then I promise you that all of those excuses and blockers that you put in front of you will disappear.

- You will MAKE time

- You will FIND the money

- You will MAKE it happen

- You will GET motivated

WHAT YOU CAN DO

- Sit down, write out your top 3 New Years - What do you want to achieve in 2025

- List ALL your blockers, why are you scared?

- Now really think WHY you really want to achieve those things, dig deep.

And knock all those blockers right off your page!
